Bayreuth
Bayreuther Festspiele
When the so-called interval musicians step onto the balcony of the Festspielhaus for the first time fifteen minutes before the start and play a specially composed fanfare, then you know: curtain up for the Bayreuth Festival! Richard Wagner’s Festspielhaus was built on the Green Hill between 1872 and 1875. It is only performed in every year from July 25th to August 28th and is a spectacular building for most visitors. This is entirely intentional, as Richard Wagner wanted it to be functional rather than ostentatious, following the ancient model of an amphitheater. The rows of seats rise evenly and - in addition to the outstanding acoustics due to the wooden construction of the auditorium and the orchestra pit, which is up to 12 meters deep - also provide an ideal view from almost all seats.

Bayreuth Baroque
Immerse yourself in the courtly magic of the Baroque! Founded in the most difficult artistic times, the Bayreuth Baroque Festival has now made a remarkable name for itself and will be staging its sixth edition in September. In 2025, ‘Pompeo Magno’, an unknown opera by Francesco Cavalli, will also be staged anew - immerse yourself in an exciting subject revolving around love, jealousy, desire and betrayal.

In the magnificent, lavishly restored Margravial Opera House, you can experience 18th century music history up close. Opened in 1748 and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2012, Bayreuth’s Wilhelmine Theatre is literally awakened from its museum-like slumber by the festival and brings its era back to life in a musical and sensual way.
Enjoy the great baroque voices of our time: the wonderful Julia Lezhneva, the countertenor and artistic director Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Facioli and many more.
Paris
“Mon amour: The city, which is a symbol of love, elegance, savoir-vivre, art, culture and many desires, hasn’t let go of me since my first visit. And the size of the metropolis, the wealth of top-class sights and the French way of life made a huge impression on me. I only discovered later that Paris is also home to two of the best opera houses in the world. The legendary Palais Garnier and the huge Opéra Bastille would be an ornament to any city on their own. I discover something new every time I visit: the monumental Pére Lachaise cemetery, the wonderful Bibliothèque Nationale or a tour underground through the catacombs. Hardly any other city offers such different perspectives; the individual districts have retained their own characteristic flair.
Paris is an established city, steeped in tradition and history, which has never lost its immense importance in the world. That’s what makes it so special in my eyes. It is proud and lively, never rests and constantly reinvents itself. Countless films, songs, poems, novels - and operas - have created a monument to her. It makes sense to set priorities and what could be more appropriate than a musical sojourn? In addition to the two opera houses mentioned above, the Philharmonie, the Opéra-Comique and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées offer material with a colorful and high-quality program. No matter what time of year, the city on the Seine is always worth a visit. And a croissant and café au lait are a must.”

Mozart Week
In 2026, the focus will be on two major Mozart anniversaries: his 270th birthday and 70 years of Mozart Week Salzburg under the anniversary motto “Mozart: lux æterna”.
In addition to a new production of “The Magic Flute” by artistic director Rolando Villazón, you can look forward to the Mozarteum Orchestra and the Cappella Andrea Barca, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Igor Levit and Sir András Schiff.

Easter Festival
For many, it will be like coming home when the Berliner Philharmoniker return to Salzburg in 2026 to stage the traditional Easter Festival. In the city where Herbert von Karajan founded it in 1967. Since then, they have been an integral part of international musical and cultural life. Their excellent and exclusive reputation far beyond the borders of Salzburg is confirmed time and again, as they combine the finest opera, choral and orchestral delights with top-class international soloists.
With Kirill Petrenko conducting, “Rheingold” marks the start of a new Ring cycle that will be forged further in the coming years.
